Forms and XML

Melly has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monkees,

I would like to write some form-input to XML, which I will then want the user to be able to search in order to return a list of matching records - any suggestions as to a good module(s) to use for any of this?

Extra points for a module that would allow me to define the form fields via XML (e.g. the values to be used in a select drop-down).

I think you are looking for a module that supports the XForms Standard. I did a quick search on CPAN and came up with XML::XForms::Generator. I have not used it but it might be a good place to start.	[reply]

How about XML::Smart or XML::Simple? They both transform the XML into a tree structure that you can then search pretty simply.	[reply]

I have to play Devil's Advocate ... why do you need XML to do this? Why not store the results in a relational database or SQLite instead?
