Parrot is going to become an yet another platform supported by GNU Compiler Collection.

Vishal Vatsa from Ireland is going to teach GCC to compile into Parrot byte-code. This task is underlying in his master's thesis, and so there is a fair chance that this task will be successful.

      Yes; page 13 of the introductory paper specifically states that "the aim of my project is to develop a cross compiler based around GCC and GJC, to re-target Java to Parrot."
