Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I've been asked to write a program that will take user input and make calls to several different search engines then post the results from each. I have some level of control over the different searches. So they all require the same data to be passed and will come up with similar output. However, I don't know how to take the data and use it to call these other searches.. nor do I know how to retrieve their output. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx MAX

    My first-ever merlyn-like answer:

    There are modules that make what you're attempting to do a lot easier; there's a whole passel of them listed under WWW::Search.

    Here is some code that you might find useful:
    use strict; # always! system("netscape", "http://www.metacrawler.com/");
    (You may also be interested in WWW::Search.)
