NotProud has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am new to perl and I notice that nodes are everywhere. Well, what are nodes exactly?

Is there any database involved?

When I did a search on 'node', I got an odd result indeed.
I would appreciate any explanations for someone who understands Cold Fusion or ASP, but is just getting into perl.
Heck, explain it for the raw beginner.

Thanks!
NotProud

My concept of a node is any unit within a system. For example, every computer on the internet is a node. You could say that every leaf on a tree is a node, and that every page that makes up Perl Monks is a node. It is a generic term for a part of a whole.

The term 'nodes' generally means a point where different paths cross. In the computer realm it has come to be related to database entries. On PerlMonks it is a given post or page.
