BTW, ever since I added Perl Monks User Search to the Find Nodes nodelet, I've been thinking that it really should be renamed because it sounds like a place you'd go to search for users. It isn't. It is a place that you go to list (not search) the nodes by a particular author. So I'd probably rename it to something like "List Nodes by Author".

Objections? I'd add a node named "Perl Monks User Search" that would link to the renamed node so that any links to the old name could be updated (links that used the node ID would be unaffected). I'll probably even make the place holder smart enough to make the link include any parameters so a single extra click is all that is required and so that you can cut'n'paste the URL to replace the old link with all of the functionality.

Thanks for the clarification tye. The suggestion that integral gave me works great. I agree with what you are thinking there, the name impies something that it isn't. The integral solution provides a way for me to find the user that I was looking for, but is there a way to make it more simple. Or is this just feature creap that we are looking at? Can you describe what kind of simplicity you are looking for? Exactly what kind of search did you want to do? As integral described, you can use super search to search user (or any other particular node type or types) titles for one or more specific substrings.	[reply]

I guess what I was talking about was adding a seperate super search item that allows a user to do specifically what integral described. I guess it goes back to two statements from above, (one) that I'm too dense to just do it through the integral method, and (two) that this is probably just feature creap and wishful thinking. Bottom line is that what integral posted above makes it pretty simple. I think that maybe I need to think outside the box a little bit. Knowing that when you create a user, it makes a "Title:" the same as the UID, makes a big difference. Once again, I have a clue. Of course it would break things. It would break bookmarks that use the node title. And I'd bet there are quite a few of those. It could be made to not break bookmarks, and perhaps that would be better... it might even be easier... But the reason nothing has been done is more that it is a non-trivial amount of work and once enough time had passed for people to register complaints, I had lost the burning desire to fix it and now it seems unimportant compared to other items that I'm also not able to find the time to do. ): - tye	[reply]
