I HATE it when I do that! I have the view source window open half the time to help me avoid major bang-head-on-wall time when I'm doing buckets of hidden fields. As someone else mentioned, livehttpheaders on mozilla is a wonderful thing if you need to debug exactly what's going on between the browser and server. Not that it's much help on IE...
