Where were you at 6:00PM on Sep 30? O'Hare, by any chance?

Hi everyone,

I just came back from a one-week conference trip. Which means my newest nodes was at a whooping 370K+! Unfortunately, most of it went unread in my attempt to catch up as fast as possible :-(

But I'm wandering off the point of my post. The most amazing thing happened on my way to the conference. At about 6:00PM on September 30, I was entering the train station at Terminal 3 of the O'Hare airport (Chicago), and I saw someone with a PerlMonks t-shirt! It was design #14. He was going into the train in the opposite direction as I was entering the station, so I didn't manage to make contact.

So my first question is: who was it? What an amazing coincidence to find a PerlMonk wandering in the real world. I would have loved to talk to you.

Second question: I didn't know the t-shirts were already available. How do I get one?

I would guess (but not bet money) that it was someone from EveryDevel or Blockstackers, and not a perl monk -- since technically, the shirts aren't really available (where's that web store? hint hint). I picked one up at lwce, I know at least one or two other monks did as well. As a sort-of follow-up, I was wearing my PM shirt at a recent event and someone came up to me who actually knew what the site was. He wasn't a perl monk either -- which confused me greatly. My worldview does not include the scenario in which a person knows of PM and is not a registered user and regular visitor. It turned out that he was a friend of Chris diBona (visible in the random monk pic rotation). Minor mystery solved. e-mail neshura	[reply]

I've got about 200 of them I don't know what the problem is. Seriously though the web store is coming soon.... the credit card verification people keep messing with us and not getting us all the information we need other than that we're pretty much ready to go. A few leaked out at LWCE to users who asked for them... a few more have gotten into circulation by people who have infiltrated the office and have snagged one with or without our permission. Besides who wants to write E-commerce software... luckily I made this one my web store project for my web technologies class complete with a few knocks at my professor in the product descriptions. Have you thought of Paypal.com? I know quite many businesses who accept credit cards that way - setting up an account with them and using e-mail address.	[reply]

www.goemerchant.com appropriately enough, its lifeblood is perl :D If you go with them, you get the ecommerce software, and a couple of options on how you want to process your transactions.	[reply]

(I know I've been patiently waiting to purchase my t-shirt... and coffee mugs.) Update:As of 10/27/2000 (or 27/10/2000 if you prefer, or 2000/10/27, or 20 Heshvan 5761 ... whatever) the Gift Shoppe is now open and you can buy stuff there.	[reply]
