One way to solve the people sneaking up on you is what my Honours supervisor has, which is a convex mirror on top of his monitor so he can easily see anyone that walks into his office.

        ThinkGeek is one of the reasons I want a credit card - Nerf guns and cool t-shirts! However I don't want a credit card because they're dangerous!
      How about a webcam which performs image recognition and when it recognises an unauthorised person entering your cubicle it initiates the, uh, defensive measures. (Which includes calling the fire department to put out the fire...)
        Maybe I should just hurry up and complete my Hate Ray Gun. It's highly effective, has thermal heat seeking targeting technology, is small, and looks super cool.
