Perl and Makefiles

EchoAngel has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monks, I was wondering if anyone or anything has made something similar to Makefiles but using Perl. Makefiles are VERY LIMITED and it seems in the end that I might do a Perl type script for running stuff but I like the Makefile abilities of targets and depencenies.

or if you want to stick to those VERY LIMITED Makefiles that for some unexplainable reason are used almost universally, you can do it in perl with pmake	[reply]
