I am programming in Perl for several years and recently I got involved in the restaurant industry as an IT manager of a big group of restaurants. I've developed web based intranet application for management and statistics of the restaurants including several costing tools for the menus. The whole system is based on mod_perl 2 and Apache 2. Lately we decided to do web interface based on the same software that will function as point of sale sub-system. I've used Macromedia Flash 7 for the user interface on the waitron stations, keeping the same server platform. So now after 4 months of success with this system (running in 12 restaurants) I can say that Perl was ideal for this project. Screenshot is available here: http://radulov.com/software/shots.gif

Considered: naChoZ Delete? Other than mentioning he uses perl, this is pretty much content free...

It sounds interesting, would you give us some more details?

    Thanks, Valerio

This looks nice. I am jealous :)
    Keep up the good work!

I am especially interested in how the flash is combined with perl...

I have been thinking about doing a location based project that will involve lots of gui and vector based mapping recently. Still working out the interface and have limited my choices to flash and svg. I will probably go with flash as it also works on mobile devices like the ipaq.

Do you have any code to share? You don't need to post the entire package but it would be great to see some real world code interaction.
