What do you think of the idea of including polls in Newest Nodes? I prefer not to clutter up the sidebar with the polls nodelet, so I only notice new polls when I start to see new Notes appearing that have suspiciously "poll-y" titles, and then I go to past polls to find the poll.

I can see others wanting newest nodes to default to not showing polls, which I think would be best done with a new flag for each type in the newest nodes configuration, but aside from that the change is trivial.

No, that ruins half the fun.

Instead, you are supposed to implement the years-old idea of adding a user setting to designate a personal 'portal node' (that defaults to The Gates) and having one's personal portal page display the nodelets configured as 'front page nodelets'.

Then you can have the poll nodelet only displayed when you look at Newest Nodes.

That way it doesn't spoil the surprise by making the new arrival obvious.

Absolutely. I go through the exact same scenario you describe. I've often wondered why new polls weren't listed there.

I turned off Poll Nodelet and I'd like to have an option to exclude polls nodes from Newest Nodes.

Newest Nodes lists more than the newest nodes already. A link to a new poll should be there too, in it's own section, but maybe the title "Newest Nodes" should be changed. Well, maybe it applies. I don't even know what "node" means, but that's another reason to change it.

From the point of view of PM just about everything is a "Node". Questions, answers, sections, display modes, users, hell sometimes even lowly strings are "nodes". And no, Newest Nodes doesnt show anything but nodes, hence its name.
