Care of sounds and effects should be left to be optional,
but technique and the art therein should get quite some emphasis.

Though this is an interesting snippet of perl, it has little to do with Bushido. Bushido is 義 (Facing Difficulty), 勇 (Courage), 仁 (Benevolence), 礼 (Respect), 誠 (Honesty), 名誉 (Honor), 尽忠 (Loyalty) - a possibly better explaination may be found at shotokai's website. If you wish to call this Bushido in perl, please show something of Bushido besides the sound a katana makes (which could be mistaken for a great many swords based solo on the sounds provided)

Minor Note: "scabbard_return" should be "return to place of peace" in any case

You have some excellent ideas there, though they could be refined a bit with a further understanding of bushido.

I don't think the grandparent was suggesting that there can be no link between bushido and Perl. Merely that your published poem doesn't really demonstrate that link. As a comedic piece, it's mildly amusing, but it doesn't address any of the ideals of bushido -- in fact, those who follow that path might even take offense.

It's OK if you were trying to be offensive -- art that offends is sometimes the most useful -- but if you were trying to extoll bushido, you need to rework some of its concepts into your poem.
