There is a whole list of things I dislike about Perl. Most of them involve largely academic concepts that matured after the first versions of C (like type inferencing and clean OO). Exactly zero of these issues are fixed in PHP, or any other mainstream language, for that matter.

The reason I'm so excited about Parrot is that I hope to finally use languages that support these things without having to worry about it interacting with a legacy code base.
