Taint checking and strictures would be a major improvement in PHP, bus I fear that will never happen

Heck, it'd already be much more enjoyable if it had such little nifty features that we, spoiled Perl Monks, take for granted, like lexical variables and anonymous functions. And the combination of those two: closures.
