If you know the name of the glob at compile-time, no. However, note that the code performs a glob assignment with names from scalars without disabling strict 'refs'.

Upon further reflection, I think that having to put "no strict 'refs';" is actually a good thing. Without it, you don't have the HERE BE MONSTERS! warning that "no strict 'refs';" or "no warnings 'redefine';" provides. You're just doing hash manipulations which don't look like they're creating new subroutines in global-land. That's not very self-documenting ... Being right, does not endow the right to be rude; politeness costs nothing. Being unknowing, is not the same as being stupid. Expressing a contrary opinion, whether to the individual or the group, is more often a sign of deeper thought than of cantankerous belligerence. Do not mistake your goals as the only goals; your opinion as the only opinion; your confidence as correctness. Saying you know better is not the same as explaining you know better.	[reply]
