Beelzebub has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi all, I have written a programm which creates a number of files, a text file (which holds information on the quantity of files just produced) and places it on the server. What I would like to do now is zip or hqx those files. Can anybody help me with my problem?

You might try system("/usr/bin/gzip -f $file") or die "Can't zip $file\n"; It depends on what you're trying to do. If the files are going to a directory, you might tar that directory and then zip it. Or you you might want to do them individually. Try the Cookbook for more examples.
    Good luck.

If you're on a win platform, just try passing commandline options to Winzip or Winrar(**better**).

"cRaZy is co01, but sometimes cRaZy is cRaZy".
