It's equally reasonable to call a perl string wide and narrow -- it will certianly fit 16-bit unicode characters (and even 32-bit unicode characters). OTOH, it's not UTF-16. What I want to know is why Hungerians feel the need to mark all their pointers long (far). When is the last time you used a near pointer? Warning: Unless otherwise stated, code is untested.
