Greetings all,
Some documentation might be in order. Try reading up on perlsub to learn about how perl works with subroutines/functions. Also a quick note. .. If you are attempting to match something with regexp you need to use the $var =~ m/regexpstuffhere/ format simply using = will not do what you are hoping.

    That's what I thought at first, but he is matching against $_ as intended. However, he is storing the number of matches in variables he never uses, and uses the /g modifier needlessly.
