Opening jpeg images with GD

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi all, I am using the GD graphics library to generate tumbnails for a online gallay I am creating. The following code is used to open a jpeg image file:

open IN, "../../test3.jpg"  or die "Could not open.";
my $srcimage = GD::Image->newFromJpeg(*IN);
[download]

For unknown reasons, I can only open images of dimensions up to 1024 X 768. Anything larger than this fails. What am I doing wrong??

I don't know exactly why you are hitting that limit, but I will say, that when I have had trouble with GD, it was because of a mismatch between the GD c-libs version and the perl GD module. If in doubt, get the latest versions of both. Maybe you could run the script through strace and see where it fails? I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth. flash japh	[reply]
