    I assume that's a translation of an English poem; it would be nice if whoever knows the original could post it or link to it.

      This was The Charge of the Light Brigade, which commemorates one of Britain's great military blunders, this one involving a company of horse charging into an artillery storm for no good reason. Fine journalistic poetry, though.
