ok, just found the registration office (I think)

my first try was nic.pl and it redirects to netnames.pl
go here for the english version: http://www.netnames.pl/uk/

I'm not sure if this is the official organization (don't official sites have to be ugly/compatible or something?) but they charge you 800 PLN (US$ 174.863 + 22% VAT) for the .pl domain.

Of course you could go ahead and get perlmonks.mil.pl for 650 PLN ... sure hope no one takes that too seriously ;-)
