Having trouble with Win32::GUI::AxWindow

talwyn has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Using ver .7 of the Axwindow module and perl 5.8.2 or v5.8.6

No matter what I use as the control's clsid the Enumeration always returns the methods or properties of IE rather than the control I specified.

The same behavior occurs in the sample scripts. I have verified that the clsid is correct, at least to the point it is passed to the underlying C routine by modifying the pm to report the clsid before invoking the XS routine.

I installed the binary from the author's website. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to remedy it?

Are there any alternatives to this module to access a ActiveX control requiring a container?

I've fooled around with AxWindow some time ago. I've had similar problems. You could ask the author or some other users of the mailinglist at sourceforge. Try a search for AxWindow. http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=3220.
