That doesn't seem to work. Perdoc does parse that. You'll have to use

=begin comment nasty code here =end

    hrm. strange, because i used it earlier today, and it worked just fine. and that's straight out of the book.

    perhaps a difference in the POD parsers ... dunno.

      Don't use "=item"s outside of an "=over" ... "=back" region.
