Safely Remove Hardware on Win32

slloyd has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Does anyone know how I can call the API to 'Safely Remove Hardware' on windows. I am writing a USB drive application and I thought it would be nice to add this to the menu if the USB drive was plugged in. I would need to send it the drive letter or something...

Thank you for your replies. I use Win32::API all the time but I have been unable to figure out what API does such a trick. I could use devcon but since it does not come with the OS natively, I was hoping that someone may already know what API to call. I guess I will keep looking.. Thanks again.

According to Google and some page on the internet, Microsoft provides devcon, which is a command line tool to mount and unmount devices.
