ssk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

hi monks,
do we have any perl modules which would do the task of "wdiff" (an application which compare two text files and create a final file with track changes) in linux?
I am very badly in need of it. Even any other solution (not in linux os) would be helpful for me.

Thanks in advance

ssk

    you mean like diff?

    Updated: made reference more explicit

    /J\

      yes

basically my objective is to take two text files as input and generate a third compared file, with some delimiters for insertions and deletions
      Thanks in advance

On thing you may want to consider is to use a source control system like Subversion or CSV. I personally use Subversion. It has built in functionality to perform some extensive diffs between different revisions of a specific file. You can choose to restore all or part of a previous revision. This has certainly saved me in the past :)

Thanks Tanktalus! I meant CVS :)

    Hope this helps
