File assiciations are set via the Registry. There are several modules to manipluate the Registry, e.g. Tie::Registry.

do you know where in the registry the file associations are for windows xp? i can't find anything on google either....usually I can find stuff, but not lately :( sucks!! thanks for all the help :)	[reply]
