I am sorry if I am not asking the question rite... like I posted I did not go to any school for any of this.. I am a self taught fool and that I know already..lol

I will find a way to make this work one way or another.

I didnt ask any question about security settings or any of that.. I asked a question poorly and kept recieveing questions back of what I am doing

I have already said what I need.. how does it go to access a file on a users pc that is already there.. all I seen from that time is questioning me and telling me security settings and all that.. I didnt not ask about that and ya if it had to be security setting changes on the user side then so be it,so what, that is not the problem in this question and all users will do it to be able to use it or they dont makes no difference to me

lets a say a user makes a dir on thier pc for this application becasue YES they want to use it... basically the same as the setup for the image being on thier pc already... what if it was a .txt file. how or where would I go to find info on how to retrieve/read that file.. I also understand that just maybe this may have to be some kind of exe file but that I would prefer to stay from

this file may only contain a few lines even.. I just do not know where to get info on how this could be accessed by one of my sites... even if the user have to make the site a trusted site in thier security settings...none of that is in question or wont be done..

lets say the txt file has a few lines like this that I want my scripts to display from... the changing and adding of the 'my' and the '$' is not in the question.. I already know how to change it to the way I want it..lol I am looking to find how I even get to that file on thier pc to READ it. not post to it or anything else and what it will take to happen or someplace that this kind of question belongs

FONT_COLOR = BLACK
BG_COLOR = WHITE

these are not what the lines will be in the file but its no different than a couple of basics like these 2 above and should be simple to understand being like this..

for me to type out all that is going to be in this file makes no sense nor to expalin what it going to do.. all I need to know is how to get this info out of the file and what I need for this to work

Also, please dont take me wrong in my last post, I am not bashing this place or anything like that.. I just wasnt reading anything that was near what I am out to do so I was ending the post is all... forums are good and this place is all good.. I just seen lots of typing to be getting knowhere... yes,a good part of it is in how I asked the thing to start with but that is just me an uneducated perl fool that hates typing words...LOL
