get frame from video files

blueberryCoffee has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello all ye monks

Does anyone know of a library that will extract a frame from a video file? I looked around quite a bit and found win32::media that will play a video file but I don't need to play it, just grab the first frame, middle and last frames.

You probably want FFmpeg and FFmpeg::StreamGroup. The example in the perldoc for FFmpeg shows pulling a specific frame by time.	[reply]
