As a first countermeasure you can simply put a "no warnings" into your loop.

for my $line (@template){
     no warnings;
     $line =~ s/(\$\w+->{\w+})/$1/eeg;
     $line =~ s/(\$\w+)/$1/eeg;
     $text .= $line;
}
