Highlighting my point nicely. The first response to my OP doesn't say 'WTF is Whorf-Sapir?', but happily states that he could talk about it all day.

What I meant was that there seems to be a greater knowledge and interest in linguistics hereabouts than one might necessarily expect.

      Whew, you just saved me some embarrassment. I was going to try and bluff and say that I'd never heard of this "Sapir", but then I never watched Deep Space Nine and didn't know he was involved with anyone but Troi and Dax.
