Image Conversion

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monks,

I need to convert a bmp type image file to a screen save format file (file1.bmp to file1.scr).
Is there any module to do that?

I doubt that there's any Perl module to do that. If I remember correctly, .scr is the same as .exe, in other words it's a program (executable machine code) not an image. Assuming we're talking MS Windows here... There may well be commercial/shareware products that allow you to construct screen savers from one or more static image files. Have you even looked on CPAN? The main image manipulation modules are GD and ImageMagick. Neither is simple to use. In general, if you think something isn't in Perl, try it out, because it usually is. :-) "What is the sound of Perl?
