ghenry has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear Master Monks,

Has anyone dealt with this kind of DB before. I can't find any mention of it on CPAN. They are .tps files.

I was hoping DBI could access them.

Thanks,
Gavin.

    From what I see there:http://www.berthume.com/cptrackerhelp/abouttopspeedfiles.htm TopSpeed is

    1) not a relational database (no SQL), more something like a filesystem;

    2) completely proprietary, therefore not very free-software (and perl) friendly;

    3) has less than impressive specs (2GB file limit? seriously?)

    My advice : keep far away from this if you can. However, it seems that CapeSoft file Manager (http://www.capesoft.com/accessories/fm3sp.htm) can help you to export the data from your clarion files to something more manageable (for instance, some SQL database).
    It also looks like it may be possible to connect to the Clarion engine thru ODBC, if you have the software suite.
