in reply to IDE with Syntax Error Checking

Though I didn't see any mention of monetary investment, I have been using Visual SlickEdit, which has a free trial.
I have also used SciTE, which is pretty nice, and the price is right.

The thing I liked about each of these is the ability to expand the environment to suit my needs.
