inblosam has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I need to use the Win32::Word::Writer on our Apple Xserve which runs Mac OS X Server. I can't install the Win32::OLE so it won't work. Do I need to have MS Word installed on the machine to do this, or what am I lacking? I read here that I can have OLE on the mac and points me to EntireX which is for XML, etc. There must be SOME other way...not sure that way even works. Thanks!

Even though I think you're out of luck wrt Win32::Word::Writer, it's nice to see someone showing an interest in the module :)

Yes you would need Word installed, but since Win32::OLE is very much Windows specific, it won't work in OS X.

If you tell us what you want to do on a higher level we may be able to help you to an alternative, like creating an RTF file, that Word can open.

Thanks, I will go with RTF.
