hubb0r has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello fellow monks,

I've recently set up a CPAN mirror at my office for use internally by the 30 or so servers that I code on. This was generally not for the benefit of the cpan servers/mirrors, although it is a side effect, but rather for my personal selfish reasons... I wanted faster/more reliable CPAN connection times.

I definitely love having my own little CPAN, and the setup of the mirror was extraordinarily easy. Yay! Today I was looking for modules on search.cpan.org and got a bit frustrated. The cpan search was, as it often is, a bit on the slow side! Instantly I thought, I should have search capabilities on my CPAN mirror, and so I set off in search of a good HOWTO on mirroring CPAN Search.

Well, as you can guess, I didn't have much luck in finding an answer. So I pose the question to you. Does anyone know of a good reference for doing what I want, or know if the code for search has even been made available?

With humble thanks,

hubb0r

Cool. I want to do that here. Do you have a pointer to instructions on how to set a CPAN mirror?

      It's in the CPAN FAQ.

Thanks for the responses so far. I will look into the CPAN::Search::Lite module.
