There is no single feature that is so compelling for a certain common task that whenever people have to do a certain thing, they think, "Oh, for this I should obviously use POE."

When I need to handle multiple input streams (tailing many logs, child procs, client connections, etc), POE is now my tool of choice. IMO, this is the compelling problem/solution set for POE.
