kendo has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I was wondering if it is possible to install the Win32.pm under any linux distro and how you go about doing that it seems to bomb out on me when trying to make it...

This is my steps...
#perl Makefile.PL -PREFIX=/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.6.0/ {blah, blah, blah} #make (then it bombs out on me...)
is this only because it can only be installed on some sort of Win32 machine?

2nd question:

How do you uninstall 5.6.0 and go back to 5.0050x?

Short answer: You can't install the Win32 suite of modules on Linux. Even if you could, those modules include DLLs and provide hooks to existing Win32 APIs, so I'm not sure what you'd gain by installing them on any sort of *nix machine...

I do most of my development on a *nix machine, and what I have to do is parse an excel spreadsheet and update it onto a SQL Server. Is there another way around that...?
