Perl is suited for some people, Python for others.

Just like some people get more done with a really clean desk, and others require a messy desk.

Neither is more "right".

Can you think better about what you're doing when you have no written materials on your desk to support your thoughts? My thought would be Perl (and other) programmers ~~do not~~ rarely have clean desks...
