ghenry has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Has anyone ever used PAR::WebStart and to what success?

It sounds like a pretty handy thing, but I am just curious as to how popular it is.

There are two issues I can see:

    1) PAR:WebStart is currently only at the alpha testing stage, which does not suggest readiness for general use.

    2) It needs to be installed at the client end, so kept up to date through its project lifecycle. That can make it difficult to construct a sound roll-out plan as yet, for whatever application you plan to have use it.
