What's the error message you get when you try to open the file for writing in the second script? You are opening for writing aren't you? `open(FILE, '>file.txt') or die "Can't open 'file.txt' for writing: $!";` [download] --- my name's not Keith, and I'm not reasonable.	[reply] [d/l]
