EvanCarroll has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Just found this little gem, segfault bug in perl 5.6+ (including 5.6.7) tested on two versions in linux (debian).
I just revealed bug to #perl on irc.freenode.net, everyone experienced it, make sure you have the right file and not a meta refresh.

1- Download the file at: http://evancarroll.no-ip.com/perlbug.txt

2- Run: perl -e'map { print reverse } reverse <>' ./perlbug.txt

Works for me on 5.6.2, 5.8.x, 5.9.x, and bleadperl (that is, correctly prints nothing, since list-context reverse doesn't default to working on $_).

That does not print anyting in Perl 5.8.7 (unthreaded) on FreeBSD 5.3-p17; perl process exits w/ code 0.
