Capturing com port output

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear Monks,

I would like to capture a com port output continously to a file while I do other things. Please advice on how I can do this. Should I do this in the background? If I capture the input from the comport, does that capture everything from the past?

What OS are you implementing this capture on? If you're on a Unix-like machine, this module may do the trick... http://search.cpan.org/~andrewho/Sys-PortIO-0.1/PortIO.pm	[reply]

Hi, if you are using windows then please see Win32API::CommPort and also Win32::SerialPort. Hope this helps. Displeaser	[reply]
