title, subject and author?? how are you defining those? Are to looking for those attributes from a MS Word (or office) file? If not, what type of file? If what you need is to look inside word/office files, you can (in windows environment) control word/excel/etc using Win32::OLE.

Win32::File::Ver is probably what you are looking for. But it's just for reading.

if You mean title/subject/author of ms office file then use Win32::OLE and BuiltinProperties collection of appropriate server (Excel, Word and so on). If You mean title/subject/author of file in NTFS filesystem then Win32-File-Summary-0.05 can help You
Yes. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
