in reply to remove whitespace from an array

Probably all you need to do is print the array like this:

print @array, "\n";
and not like this
print "@array\n";

When an array is interpolated in a double-quotish context, Perl separates its elements with the contents of the special variable $" (aka $LIST_SEPARATOR), which, by default is a single space. Therefore, an alternative to the above is simply to set $" to the empty string. E.g.

{ local $" = ''; print "@array\n"; }

A third possibility is this:

print join('', @array), "\n";

But note that if the first solution did not work, neither will the other two. If this is the case, holler and we can give you more specific advice.
