Ok, I know if I had the self-discipline that I'm striving to attain I'd do these myself, but until then I figure I should at least throw the ideas out into this forum.

How about the ability to leave messages on personal nodelets read(&delete)by the owner. (The ability to post to personal nodelets limited by level?)
It seems to me the monastery needs a 'Scribing Room'. This would be a place where monks were made to test at each level to write some basic code appropriate to their given level prior to being able to advance to their next level. While cheating would be exceptionally easy, I believe the majority of users would want to complete these test for their own self gratification and a sense of 'earning' their next level. If nothing else 'cheaters' would only be cheating themselves.
My last idea is still in that young and obtuse age, and pulls from jcwrens challenges. Can anyone think of away of randomly created teams and 'team challenges'?

just some idea's

Um, you know... You *can* /msg yourself in the Chatterbox? Quoting Turnstep's home node, "This is a good way to remind yourself of things, and a good alternative to your 'personal nodelet.'"

For example, jcwren sent me a /msg some time back reminding me of the correct way to quote messages using their node ID's. Since I have a memory like a steel seive, I left that there to make sure I don't screw up too badly when trying to refer to other conversations.

    Just a thought...

I like this idea of "testing" to achieve your next level. To some extent, at least. It reminds me of my old days of studying Tang Soo Do. You'd be ready to advance to the next belt...but you had to test for it first.

However, my favorite martial arts experience was in a much more laid-back environment. While studying Kempo Karate-Do, every class was a "testing." If, at the end of the class, Sensei thought you should advance...you advanced that day, right there. This has the big advantage of encouraging the student to perform their best at every moment, not just at the testing. This is the way I percieve the current XP system working. You get voted up if you do well (okay, so I'm an idealist...). Not having "tests" encourages all of us monks to put forth our best all the time.

Oh yeah and the ability to delete accidental double posts (ignore this one read the next) would be nice.
