I'd personally rather not see old posts suddenly pop up just because someone decided to front-page them. So even if someone decided to implement this, I'd strongly recommend that it just be another user preferences what kind of front-page ordering to do. (You can already order oldest/newest/best and control how many items to see.) While a noble idea, I suspect that many people wouldn't bother switching this setting and I don't think it should be a default.
