Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Folks: I am looking for a perl 5.6 version of the POSIX module. CPAN only shows the most recent release. The site where I am working does not have 5.8 and I don't own the perl install here, so I am stuck with perl 5.6. If I had time, I would consider installing a local copy of perl 5.8.7, but alas that is not the case. Thanks for your assistance.

POSIX.pm is a core module, and as such should come with your perl by default.

CPAN contains all previous releases as well. Here's the perl-5.6.0 version of POSIX.pm .. to find any version, do a search for POSIX, which shows perl-5.8.7 -- on that page, change "Other releases" to the perl version you want (5.6.0? 5.6.2?) and find POSIX from there.

It's there ... just pull it out of the core.
