    And ask them if they know the difference between a module and a pragma. :-)
      Isn't it that there are pragamatic modules but not modular pragmas? Or are there?!?
        It appears you are correct, strict and such may be referred to as pragmatic modules (Googling turned up the chapter of "Programming Perl" titled "Pragmatic modules", but I won't link to it since it is most likely unauthorized).
