Test Driven Development by Kent Beck for a thorough demonstration of this methodology.
Secure Coding by Mark G Graff, because it's never too early to start thinking about security in your programs.
LInux Kernel Development by Robert Love, for understanding what goes on under the hood.
Consider Phlebas by Iain M.Banks for thoroughly enjoying yourself after work :-)
