oldperlman has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I need to control/access serial ports on Windows. I installed Win32::SerialPort and discovered it is not compatible with the ActivePerl 5.8.7 I have which is no surprise since the module is from 1999. I need to be able to read/write/control the port. Anyone any clues?

    You may be able to use createFile from Win32API::File.
